(Senior) Cloud Engineer

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

• Title/ Position:       (Senior) Cloud Engineer
• Department:          Managed Service Team
• Report to:             MSP Manager

JOB PURPOSE

• Be responsible for the roll-out of cutting-edge technology – container cluster and service mesh, automation where possible, monitoring, and logging solution.
• Be responsible for the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning. Focuses on the health of the cloud infrastructure of Galaxy One and Sovico's entities.
• Be responsible for system migration from on-premises to cloud and cloud to cloud.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategy & Planning: Assist in strategic plans to ensure the company's technological processes align with its goals.
• Development & Deployment: Oversee all system design and changes in system architecture. Architect, design, implement, secure cloud-based solutions
• Deliver high quality documentation, including diagrams and implemented systems.
• Work closely with colleagues to deliver requirements based on agreed design specifications.
• Automate management of cloud infrastructure and developer tooling.
• Ensures that services both internally critical and externally visible systems have reliability and uptime appropriate to users’ needs and a fast rate of improvement while keeping an eye on capacity and performance.
• An active contribution to sharing and growing knowledge base in any technology discipline across wider GalaxyOne's colleagues and Sovico's community. You’re encouraged to up-skill and gain certifications.

REQUIREMENTS

• BSc/MSc Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent
• Having Certifications from major cloud providers such as AWS is a big plus.
• About 3+ years of working experience with AWS Cloud technologies including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Route53, Lambda, IAM, CloudFront, and CloudWatch.
• Solid understanding of DevOps toolchains such as Jenkins, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
• Have experience with AWS and hybrid environment
• Strong scripting skills (e.g. Python, Bash).
• Experience with automated deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
• Familiarity with implementing and maintaining disaster recovery strategies.
• Have experience working on project management systems such as Atlassian Jira, MS Project, etc.
• Strong desire to learn new tools, processes, and methodology across a variety of tools and technologies.
• Ability to work independently and commitment to problem-solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
